'Could you try putting 'Sterling' into a song? It's quite difficult when you think about it'

It's probably a good thing that the season is coming to a close as Raheem Sterling endured boos from Liverpool fans at tonight's club awards.

The winner of Liverpool's Young Player of the Year has provoked the anger of some fans due to the recent suggestions that he may have ambitions to depart Anfield this summer.

As the contract situation rumbled, Sterling once suggested that he would love to have a Kop song about him, and while supporters obliged with a chant against his agent, ESPN's John Brewin quipped "could you try and fit the word Sterling into a song? It's quite difficult when you think about it" as he joined us on Off The Ball to look into the situation.

On a more serious note, Brewin feels Liverpool erred by not signing Sterling up to a new contract on improved terms at the end of last season when Brendan Rodgers was calling him the best young player in Europe and that the Reds' poor transfer strategy made the youngster more prominent than he might have been.

Brewin says Manchester United can be ruled out of the picture, Arsenal rarely pay silly money, leaving Manchester City as "the most likely", although it would be expensive.
