Brendan Rodgers hails Man City's Patrick Roberts as he prepares to take on his parent club

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the impact of loan signing Patrick Roberts as he prepares to face his parent club in Europe tonight.

Roberts is currently on loan from Man City and the two clubs are due to meet at the Etihad Stadium in the Champions League.

The sides drew an entertaining clash 3-3 at the end of September and although the match won't change how either team finishes the group stages, fans will be hoping for something similar in the return game.

Speaking to the club's website, Rodgers highlighted the impact of the Man City loanee saying: "He’s been brilliant. I didn’t see a lot of Patrick before I came to Celtic, but obviously I was aware of him.

"He’s a big talent and a big applause to him as a young player that after six months at Manchester City, he realised he needed to play games to find experience, and there was that collaboration between Manchester City and Celtic.

"Obviously if you come out of Manchester City and you want to test and measure a young player then you want to put them in an environment where they are going to be under pressure and they are going to have expectancy, so coming to Celtic, he was always going to get that.

"It’s a club that looks to win every single game. There is a huge demand to not only win but to win in a certain style, and he has been a joy to work to with and he’s a fantastic talent.

"He will then come back here in the summer where Pep and the coaching staff will look at him and will hopefully see that, from when he left, he has a better idea of the game tactically and how to press the game.

"He obviously has great technical qualities and he will come back to develop and ready to work. He has great qualities and it will be up to the staff at Manchester City to if he fits into their plans. He’s a wonderful talent, a great kid to work with and we’re obviously very happy to have him."

Celtic go into the game on the back of their epic 4-3 win over Motherwell at the weekend while City are looking to rebound from their 3-1 loss to Chelsea.
