"We showed what the All Black jersey means to us" - Beauden Barrett delighted to gain revenge after Chicago

2016 World Player of the Year Beauden Barrett was named man-of-the-match after New Zealand's win over Ireland.

The fly-half scored 11 points in the 21-9 win including a try and three conversions. He was part of the team that lost in Chicago, and speaking post-match he was happy the team righted the wrong of Soldier Field.

"We worked hard for each other and we showed what the All Black jersey means to us."

"We felt we let ourselves down, let the jersey down in Chicago. The sting in our tackles, the intent in our ball-carrying was there tonight. That's where we need to be every week."

After conceding five tries to Ireland in Chicago, Barrett admitted that it was excellent to see the team not concede any in Dublin, especially during the two ten-minute periods they played with 14 men.

"We were tested a lot in that game. Having two guys sent to the bin, we had to work a little bit harder... It was just pleasing to see how hard the guys worked for each other tonight."

After the win, Barrett told Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan that the World Champions wanted to increase the performance level, from the one shown a fortnight ago.

"It was more about the performance. If we turned up today, gave everything and lost, we could live with that."

New Zealand end their 2016 season next weekend with a game against France.
