"The Irish fully deserved the win" - New Zealand hooker Codie Taylor is looking to make amends in Dublin

New Zealand hooker Codie Taylor was part of the team that lost to Ireland earlier this month in Chicago. He starts Saturday's games on the bench, as is hoping to go one better in Dublin.

Speaking exclusively to Alan Quinlan on Newstalk Breakfast, the 2015 World Cup winner said his team are ready to try and right the wrongs of the 40-29 defeat in Soldier Field.

"We were just probably a bit gutted [after the Chicago game] and at the same time, knew that we didn't play the way the All Blacks should play. The Irish fully deserved the win. The Irish were exceptional".

Despite the loss, Taylor said that Steve Hansen's team were not surprised with the levels of physicality and intensity Ireland brought to the game earlier this month.

"We always knew that Ireland could play exceptionally well. They're a great team, with a great coach... They just hit us with full force. It stung us a bit".

In what has become a fortunate situation for the World champions, they get to try and avenge the defeat, two weeks after it happened. Taylor is set for what he thinks will be a high quality game.

"When you lose against a team, and you get another chance to play them, there's always that feeling of edge, that you want to go out there and play well. Luckily enough we get to play Ireland again. Both teams will bring their A-game."

Having only made his debut for New Zealand last year, Ireland are one of only two teams Taylor has tasted defeated against. He will want that to change on Saturday evening, with a win in Dublin.
