Tadhg Furlong signs new Leinster deal

Tadhg Furlong has signed a new IRFU deal which will see him remain with Leinster for the next three years.

The tighthead prop has agreed a new three-year contract which will extend his stay until the end of the 2024/25 season.

Furlong recently won his 50th cap for Ireland in their Autumn Nations Series clash with Japan.

He has also become an important player for the British and Irish Lions, starting all three of this summer's tests against South Africa.

He made his Leinster debut in November 2013.

Since then, he has scored eight tries in 116 appearances, while collecting a Heineken Champions Cup medal in 2018 as well as 4 PRO14 titles.

His Ireland debut arrived at the age of 22 in 2015.

David Nucifora, IRFU Performance Director, welcomed the new agreement, describing the Wexford man as one of the best players in the world.

“Tadhg has again illustrated his pedigree as one of the best tightheads in world rugby.

"His performances for Ireland and the British and Irish Lions in the past year have been top drawer and we are delighted that he has extended his contract to the end of the 2024/25 season.”

Furlong himself says both Leinster and Ireland are in a good place.

“November was a really positive block for the Ireland squad and it was great to have supporters back in the stadium," he commented.

"Ireland and Leinster we have started the season well and both squads will be aiming for silverware again this season.”
