Player ratings: Northampton v Leinster

We rate the Irish side as they thumped Northampton 37-10 in Franklin's Gardens tonight.

Jack McGrath - 8

Carried on where he left off for the national team. Industrious around the park and fast becoming the best loose-head in European rugby. Played his part in a dominant scrum.

Sean Cronin - 7

Emptied the tank while he was on the field and was one cog in a dominant pack. Showed he isn't just an impact player off the bench.

Tadgh Furlong - 9

Like a good wine, he gets better with age so imagine how good he will be in a couple of years. Dominated his opposite number at scrum time and was a threat all over the park.

Devin Toner - 8

Ran his line-out like he runs the national side's. Solid on re-starts and made the hard yards when necessary.

Hayden Triggs - 6

Overshadowed by his partner. Gave away an offside penalty but collected the odd re-start when called upon. Hauled off after 51 minutes.

Sean O'Brien - 8

Back to his best, well he was until he was taken out with a cowardly cheap shot by Hartley. Scored a decisive try with the aid of Heaslip.

Josh van der Flier - 8

You must be good if you're moving O'Brien to the blindside role and VDF stepped up to the plate tonight. Was a threat at almost every breakdown and kept the opposition honest at ruck time.

Jamie Heaslip - 8

Another industrious performance from Mr. reliable and provided the extra "umf" O'Brien needed to get over the line for a crucial score.

Luke McGrath - 7

Relatively controlled display form the youngster and if he tidies up the odd error or two he could develop into the second coming of Eoin Reddan.

Joey Carbery - 7

Started the game confidently and directed his team around the park professionally before succumbing to an ankle injury.

Isa Nacewa (captain) - 8

If Heaslip is the forward's Mr reliable, Nacewa is the back's carbon copy. Brilliant display around the park and kicked off the tee well. Scored a deserved try to finish the match.

 Robbie Henshaw - 8

Solid display after coming back from injury on international duty. Is striking up a formidable partnership with Ringrose that could emulate D'arcy and O'Driscoll over the years.

Garry Ringrose - 8

Was a constant threat with ball in hand and forming a good understanding with his midfield partner. Ran a super line for his try, almost TJ Perenara-esque.

Adam Byrne - 7

Ran some quality lines but also made some mistakes. Ran one when he should have kicked in the first half to give away a penalty.

Rob Kearney - 8

Back to his best at full-back. Excellent break to get the game going early on and was solid under the high ball. Had to be replaced early in the second half through injury.

Subs:

Ross Byrne - 8

Picked up where Carbery left off. Weathered the Northampton storm and grew into the game as it wore on. Pin-point cross-field kick to set up O'Laughlin in the corner.

Ruddock- 7

Came on for Triggs early in the second half and upped the intensity level as Leinster turned the screw.

Gibson-Park - 7

Scored a wonderful solo try to seal the bonus point after picking up a turnover and running in from over 50 metres out.

Rory O'Loughlin - 8

Came on for Kearney and slotted right into the team. Scored a wonderful try out-jumping Foden in the corner after a super kick from Byrne.

The other subs played their part but weren't on long enough to merit an individual rating.
