Leo Cullen praises Gibson-Park and Byrne as Leinster hammer Wasps

Leinster Head Coach Leo Cullen highlighted the pivotal roles his halfbacks played after the comprehensive 37-19 win over Wasps in the Heineken Champions Cup.

Tries from Garry Ringrose, Noel Reid and a brace from Sean Cronin sealed Leinster's place in the quarter-finals and gave them a home draw against Irish rivals Ulster.

Speaking to Off the Ball's Connor Morris after the match, he said: "I thought we were quite controlled and played in the right areas of the field. Between Jamison at 9 and Ross at 10 - they managed the game pretty well.

"And, when a couple of chances came along - we were clinical enough, in terms of taking them. We're pleased to get the win and pleased to be through to a home quarter-final.

"It's always an unusual sort of time because there's such a long gap between now and the next game in Europe so we'll put our attention back on the Guinness PRO14. We've a game in 5 days time against Scarlets

"I thought the guys prepared well this week. There was all sorts of distractions with variables going on with the other pools and on Sunday, playing last, watching it all unfold - so from our point of view, I thought they controlled what was in their own control and kept their focus during the course of the week."

Looking ahead to the all-Ireland clash against provincial rivals Ulster, Cullen said: "They're making very steady progress under Dan McFarland this season, so there are a lot of their players that we know well and as a result, they know us very well too. A couple of their players have been involved with us in recent times and it makes it a difficult game. It makes it a very difficult game," he added.

Leinster are due to host Ulster at the Aviva Stadium on the last weekend of March.
