Kieran Treadwell to miss Ulster's Champions Cup opener

Ulster will be without Kieran Treadwell for the start of their Heineken Champions Cup pool campaign.

The lock has been banned for three-weeks.

Treadwell was cited for a dangerous challenge on Scarlets prop Javan Sebastian in last week's 26-24 win at Kingspan Stadium.

Robert Milligan QC, the Judicial Officer of a Guinness PRO14 disciplinary panel concluded the tackle would have warranted a red card and accompanying six-week ban.

The suspension was chopped in half to three-weeks owing to Treadwell's "previous clean disciplinary record, acceptance of his actions, co-operation and remorse shown".

The 25-year old will be free to play again from midnight on December 19.

That means Treadwell will be available for the Heineken Champions Cup pool game with Gloucester at Kingsholm later that day.

However, he will miss the visit of Toulouse the week prior, as well as Monday night's Guinness PRO14 trip to Edinburgh.
