Keith Earls' suspension puts him out of Ireland's New Zealand test in Chicago

Keith Earls has been ruled out of Ireland's opening November International against New Zealand on November 5th at Soldier's Field in Chicago.

The versatile Munster winger has been handed a two-week suspension after he was red carded for a dangerous tackle during last weekend's European Champions Cup win over Glasgow.

The initial punishment of four weeks was cut in half to reflect Earls' guilty plea, his expression of remorse and his clean disciplinary record.

It means that he will be free to play on Monday, November 7th making him available to return for Ireland's second November Test against Canada.

That takes place on November 12th, seven days before a second fixture against the All-Blacks at Aviva Stadium on November 19th.

The final Guinness Series fixture is against Australia on November 26th, also in Dublin.

Earls was red carded by French referee Jerome Graces after 18 minutes at Thomond Park on Saturday for a dangerous tackle on Glasgow hooker Fraser Brown.

Munster overcame that setback to win 38-17 on an emotional day at Thomond, in the first match since the passing of head coach Anthony Foley.
