Jared Payne signs new two-year contract

Jared Payne has signed a new contract with the IRFU that will see him stay at Ulster for a further two years.

The Ireland international will now be at the Kingspan Stadium until 2018, having made his debut in 2011.

Payne has represented Ireland 12 times, scoring two tries in his time with the national team.

Commenting on his new contract, Payne said "I am very happy to have signed a two year Irish contract to remain with Ulster Rugby. It has been an honour for me to not only pull on the Ulster jersey, but to represent Ireland as well. There is plenty for us to achieve at Ulster and with Ireland".

Ulster's Director of Rugby, Les Kiss, added that he was pleased to get Payne's future sorted as he is "an incredibly astute and intelligent rugby player. He adds experience and calm to any backline and he will continue to be an important player for Ulster in the years to come".

The IRFU has been busy in the last couple of days, as the ink is barely dry on the deal that will see Robbie Henshaw swap Connacht for Leinster, Cian Healy's extension or the renewal of 17 further players at the RDS.
