Erasmus tweets videos to hit back at Gatland comments

South Africa director of rugby Rassie Erasmus has hit back at comments made by British and Irish Lions head coach Warren Gatland.

Following South Africa A’s 17-13 win over the tourists on Wednesday, Gatland met with tour referees seeking clarity and consistency over high tackles.

“I can’t understand where the comments that there was no contact to the head,” Gatland said of an incident involving Faf de Klerk.

“No arms and he’s hit the arm first and then the shoulder, but there’s definitely head-on-head contact. We’ve got a meeting with the referees just to get a bit of clarity on that. What we want is clarity so we get complete consistency."

Erasmus took to Twitter to respond to Gatland.

"If there is time maybe also get absolute clarity and alignment on this one please, I know its way after the whistle, but lets just align and get clarity to be sure," Erasmus said accompanying a video of Owen Farrell swinging Faf de Klerk to the ground after the whistle had gone.

The South African World Cup winner also posted a second clip, this time showing Farrell again appearing to tackle high on Jasper Wiese.

The Lions face the Stormers on Saturday in their final game before the 1st test in Cape Town next weekend.
