Eddie O'Sullivan on the growing optimism around Leinster and slight final worries for Connacht

Eddie O'Sullivan feels Leinster are getting their act together just in time for the crucial Guinness Pro 12 final against Connacht.

The former Ireland head coach joined Off The Ball tonight after a weekend which saw both Irish provinces book their places at Murrayfield on Saturday evening.

"I think the scene is set for a great final and you hope that it isn't not a damp squib, that it doesn't get stuck in second gear. All the indicators are Connacht won't step back from what they're doing. They're going to have to back themselves into this and I think if they're going to beat Leinster, they will have to take risks," he said.

"Having said that, I do think that Leinster are in a good place now. They've had their crisis before the playoffs, they've got their heads together, they seem to be in a place where they want to be. They're almost underdogs based on their season, but we all know that they have a very good team, and I often felt that if they could gather a bit of momentum at the end of the season, they would be in the final. "

And aside from facing a team coming into form, Eddie is concerned that the occasion might just get to Connacht.

"You would also worry a little bit for Connacht that this pressure game, a final, history in the making, all that wears on players' heads and you'd worry that they just mightn't be able to deal with that."

But he hopes that if Connacht go down, "they go down swinging".
