RG Snyman feels Johann van Graan can get him to a world class level

Munster's new World Cup-winning lock RG Snyman says getting the chance to work under Johann van Graan played a key part in his decision to move to Limerick.

The 25-year-old feels he still his some finer details to iron out in his game and believes that van Graan is the ideal coach to get him to a "world class" level.

Snyman moved to Limerick at the start of the summer following three years in Japan with Honda Heat and he thinks making the switch to the two-time European champions can help improve him as a player.

"I really enjoyed my time in Japan," the towering lock told OTB Sports at a video press conference today.

"But just out of my career perspective I thought it was a better move for me to come over to Munster and work under coach van Graan and to continue bettering myself.

"That's the biggest reason why I came here. I think I still need some detail done on the smaller details, on the technical side, and working under him is great for that because he's very technical and his off-field work is very detailed.

"First time I met  him was when I was still in high school. We go quite a while back but I didn't get under him that much. I do know that he's a quality coach.

"Speaking to anyone who has every worked with him it's only positive so that's what I'm looking forward to and the chance for expanding my game as well."

Fellow World Cup winner Damian de Allende has also joined the Reds ahead of the resumption of the Guinness PRO14 season and Snyman is delighted to have his Springbok teammate on board:

"The time that I signed I didn't know that he was coming over as well, we only found out at the last moment that we were coming over together.

"I'm very happy that it's him specifically because he's a great guy, a hard working player and I'm looking forward to seeing some good collisions from him!"
