WATCH: Mick Schumacher suffers scary crash during F1 in Saudi Arabia

Mick Schumacher suffered a scary crash during F1 qualifying in Saudi Arabia today.

Schumacher is conscious, has left the car and is in the medical center, according to Andrew Benson of the BBC.

Famously the son of Michael Schumacher, Mick is a 23-year-old F1 driver for Haas. He finished 11th in the opening race in Bahrain last weekend. Schumacher is yet to score a point in his F1 career, having began at the beginning of the 2021 season.

He would have hoped to crack the top 10 this weekend after coming so close last weekend.

Instead, Schumacher will now miss the race completely. His car was destroyed in the crash with multiple wheels coming off and the body hitting the wall at over 170 mph. Schumacher was likely spared the brunt of the damage by the way in which his car collided with the wall. It spun out of control so the central part of the car, where Schumacher is, didn't collide with anything.

It's a scary incident and a reminder of the dangers of F1. The drivers are so consistent cornering that it often looks like they're in no real danger but even the slightest wrong movements can cause life-altering injuries.

Mick's father, one of the greatest F1 drivers of all time, is famously living with severe health problems after a skiing accident.

Canal+ reportedly spoke to the F1 team's doctor who said that Mick Schumacher is "very well" and should be present at the Grand Prix race tomorrow.

The F1 race in Saudi Arabia will go ahead this weekend with the backing of the competing drivers. This is despite the fact that a missile attack took place near the course overnight.
