Ray Moylette joined this week's 'Off the Brawl' to reflect on an epic fight card in Castlebar last December.
Billed as 'The Homecoming', the Mayo native challenged Christian Uruziqueta for the WBC Silver International lightweight title and a win would have catapulted Moylette into the top 20 in the division.
However, after four even rounds, Moylette was dropped twice in the fifth and appeared to be on the brink. He composed himself between rounds and fought his way back into contention only to fall just short on the scorecards.
Speaking about the experience, Moylette said: "Them two knock-downs have catapulted my profile and my stock has risen, maybe not so much here in Dublin but definitely on the west coast...in Mayo or Galway.
"Ray Moylette was a boxer - I could always walk down the street and people would know me and I might get a nod or a handshake but literally people are crossing the street to come over to shake hands or to say 'well done!'
"So that knock down - would it be wrong to say I enjoyed getting back up? It built character. Now people can relate to me - everyone gets knocked down in life some way or other but not everyone gets back up and goes back into the trenches.
"I know it's not ideal to be getting knocked-down but it was the main part of the fight," he added.
Moylette has just returned to training after taking a break over the Christmas and plans to meet his promoters soon to put in place his plans for the year.
