Davy Fitzgerald: "That wasn't Wexford. We were flat today."

Wexford manager Davy Fitzgerald has conceded that his Wexford side were not on par with reigning All-Ireland champions Galway this afternoon.

His side crashed to a 1-23 to 0-17 loss in round 4 of the round robin phase of the Leinster Championship.

The Clare man spoke with OTB's Oisin Langan after his side's defeat.

"There's no doubt that they were the better team, we've no doubt about that,' said Fitzgerald.

The "Yellow bellies" manager believes his side didn't present their full potential against "the Tribesmen" today in Innovate Wexford Park. He believes his side put in a flat performance against the All-Ireland champions. He says that wasn't the side he knows.

"That wasn't Wexford, though. We were flat today - I know they were very powerful, and right up there. I believe we are better than that.

Fitzgerald is concerned about his teams' chances in the next round of the championship after their under-par performance today.

"I dread to think how we are going to be next week. We put in a massive two first weeks. I don't think Kilkenny. If you look at last week, I don't think Kilkenny were 100% up because it was their third week,' Fitzgerald added.

The manager says his side have been unlucky because they have to play four weeks on the bounce.

"I think Offaly when they played us, I noticed in the warm up that they were flat when they were playing us. We went for their throat straight away. Galway did similar today - and we happen to be the unlucky team with four in a row."
