Leinster's Connors will miss his Saturday Bath due to new injury woe

Will Connors has been ruled out of Leinster's first couple of games in this season's Heineken Champions Cup.

The flanker is facing a number of weeks out with a hamstring injury sustained on the training pitch last week.

Connors had only returned from an eight-month layoff with a knee injury a fortnight ago.

Leinster welcome Bath to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, before a trip to Montpellier just six days later.

Connors' latest injury woes are the only black mark on Leo Cullen's copybook ahead of Saturday's match, with a slew of internationals in line for potential returns.

Jonathan Sexton will increase his training load this week, having sustained a twisted knee and ankle in Ireland's victory over the All Blacks last month.

James Ryan must continue to see an independent concussion consultant - in line with standard World Rugby protocols - having taken a knock to the head in Ireland's win over Argentina. The lock will continue to train with the rest of the squad this week.

There's also potentially good news regarding Jack Conan, who is another who will increase his training load this week following a quad injury.

Cian Healy will be further assessed as the week goes on after being withdrawn from Friday's win over Connacht with cramp.

Jamison Gibson Park has recovered from a thigh injury - he's one of four players definitely back in the mix for Saturday.

Dan Leavy's completed the Return To Play protocols, and Rory O'Loughlin will return to full training this week after a shoulder injury.

Max Deegan came through Friday's game with no bother following the mouth injury he suffered in the prior week's loss to Ulster.

Conor O’Brien (hamstring), Dave Kearney (back) and Michael Milne (calf) all remain out of contention.
