Limerick march on to book place in All-Ireland Hurling final

Limerick are back into the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship final.

They've beaten Galway on a scoreline of 0-27 to 0-24 in the second of this year's last four clashes at Croke Park to book a place in the decider with Munster neighbours Waterford.

Galway made a fabulous start and quickly sent the first three scores through the posts.

It took Limerick nine minutes for Limerick to register their first score and Galway lead 0-7 to 0-2 after 15 minutes.

John Kiely's side didn't panic though and in the 24th minute took the lead for the first time as they started to completely dominate via their half-forward line.

The Treaty went into the break two points ahead and it felt like this game was theirs for the taking.

Aaron Gillane and Gearóid Hegarty both had four points to their names at this stage.

In the second half, Galway made changes with Fintan Burke replacing David Burke and Joseph Cooney into half-forward line.

These did make an impact but it wasn't enough.

Limerick sniffed around for a goal which would have fully finished off the game, this didn't come but it always really looked like Limerick were going to win.

In the 54th minute, Galway goalkeeper Eanna Murphy had to make a terrific save to deny a David Reidy strike.

There were sad and worrying scenes in the 61st minute with Joe Canning going down with a serious injury.

The 2017 player of the year had to be stretchered off after a long break in proceedings to treat him on the pitch.

He had scored 12 points in the game, four of them from sideline cuts.

Galway seemed to take inspiration from the loss of one of their greatest ever players and sent two points over to level it at 22 points apiece in the 70th minute.

Limerick answered well though and out-scored Galway 0-04 to 0-01 in the closing stages to eventually win by three points.

Although this wasn't the cracker we all hoped for it was enough to see Limerick march on to the showpiece where they'll look to add to their League and Munster success this year.
