The long-awaited meeting of Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano is "on the brink" of being agreed, according to promoter Eddie Hearn.
The pair have been dancing around a fight for some years now, with a Manchester meeting in May of 2020 felled by the pandemic.
But prior to Christmas, Taylor began focussing in on finally taking on the former seven-weight world champion.
Serrano currently holds the WBC, WBO, and IBO featherweight titles, with Taylor the undisputed lightweight champion of the world for coming up on three years.
Matchroom chief Eddie Hearn said last month that serious discussions about a Taylor-Serrano showdown were dependent on the latter getting past Miriam Gutierrez in Tampa.
With that fight out of the way, it appears all systems: go for the spring.
"The contracts are getting finalised at the moment. We're on the brink now," he told DAZN.
"That's the biggest fight in the history of female boxing. And it's going to be a massive fight for boxing in 2022.
"Female boxing doesn't get any bigger than this fight.
"I mean, in a way I want to stop saying 'this is the biggest fight in female boxing'. This is one of the biggest fights in boxing."
The fight is likely to take place at the Madison Square Garden main arena - rather the smaller and adjacent Hulu Theatre - on April 30.
