Ben Healy has been ruled out of Munster's Heineken Champions Cup trip to Clermont.

He underwent an MRI on his injured shoulder on Monday.

The out-half came in for some rough treatment at the hands of Harlequins players last week following his second-half introduction in place of JJ Hanrahan.

Alex Dombrandt picked up a yellow card for the first of two late challenges on Healy, while Joe Marler went unpunished for another.

Speaking after the game, Munster head coach Johann van Graan claimed Healy had been intentionally targeted by Quins' players.

Speaking to OTB Sports on Monday morning, former Munster back row Alan Quinlan echoed those sentiments saying, "I think he’s [Van Graan] right to be angry.

"Ben Healy looked uncomfortable after the two hits. I think the first one from [Alex] Dombrandt was pretty cynical and pretty obvious.

"The second one, Joe Marler’s one, didn’t seem to [have] as much force, but he looked very unsettled after that as well."

In better news for Van Graan ahead of the trip to France, Jeremy Loughman (shoulder) and Niall Scannell (neck) have both returned to full training and are in contention to play Clermont.

On the long-term injury front Matt Gallagher underwent surgery on his shoulder injury last week and must go through the rehabilitation process.
