Graham Reilly calls time on inter-county career with Meath

Meath forward Graham Reilly has retired from inter-county football.

The St. Colmcille's clubman confirmed the news on his Facebook page.

Reilly was first drafted into the Meath panel in 2007 while still a teenager. Royal County legends like Graham Geraghty and Darren Fay were still on the panel when Reilly was first called into the squad.

He'd become a peripheral figure over the past twelve months, and didn't feature in 2020 for Andy McEntee's side.

Reilly's the second Meath player since the turn of the year to hang up their green and gold jersey for the final time.

Sean Tobin also stepped away from the panel in recent days.

Reilly cited his 2017 captaincy of the side as the highlight of his inter-county career.

Graham Reilly statement:

Well folks, the time has come for me to announce my retirement form intercounty football.

Where to start, from u14 development squads to making my senior Meath debut at 18 it was just a dream come true.

As a young lad I always wanted to represent my county and for 12 years at senior level I got to do that.

It has being an honour and privilege to put on the green and gold Jersey on so many occasions.

There so many people I would like to thank, my dad and Mam for driving me all over the county for years, my family and friends, my club St Colmcille's for being there on and off the pitch for me.

The supporters for sticking with me and the team trough good and bad times, and all the management staff and players I played with for so many years.

I have made some brilliant friends and memories.

The highlight for me was to captain my side in 2017 an honour I will never forget.

For now I wanna wish the current Meath side all the best for the future.

Thanks for all the memories
