Tomas Quinn on how Kerry's tactical changes could impact the game against Dublin

Former Dublin forward Tomas Quinn feels Kerry will have to "pick and choose their battles" in Sunday's Allianz League final.

Both sides will be aiming for silverware ahead of another All-Ireland campaign in which Dublin are defending their crown and Kerry plan to go one better than last year.

While targetting Dublin goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton's kickouts may be an option, tactically, Kerry have made some changes since September, including moving Paul Murphy from half-back to half-forward.

"It has worked but this will be the real test for it this Sunday. Dublin got the key match-ups right last year tactically in the All-Ireland final, where the likes of Philly McMahon and Jonny Cooper who as Dublin defenders were dictating to the Kerry forwards where the game was being played," he told Oisin Langan on Newstalk Breakfast.

"Kerry's best forwards spent their time tracking Dublin players. It'll be interesting to see on Sunday whether the likes of Paul Murphy and Donnchadh Walsh decide to track Philly McMahon and James McCarthy when they go and leave the Gooch and some of Kerry's more natural forwards to stay close to the Dublin goal and try to do some damage."

But given Dublin's recent championship run over the Kingdom, Tomas expects Kerry to have an extra bit motivation to put things right.

"This Kerry team haven't beaten Dublin in a big, competitive game in a couple of years. I know they beat them in the league down in Kerry last year but certainly in Croke Park, they'll be very keen to try and get one over on Dublin this Sunday," he said.
