"There's a battle for the soul of the GAA" - Donnchadh Boyle

GAA journalist Donnchadh Boyle joined OTB AM in studio this morning to discuss potential changes that need to occur to the structure of the GAA to benefit the club game.

With the conclusion of the championship, and Dublin cementing their fifth senior football title in a row, thoughts naturally turn to how competition can be improved.

Donnchadh feels that the nature of the organisation can sometimes impede the pace of change, given its decision-making processes.

"It's a time full of change for the GAA at the moment, and it doesn't necessarily handle change well all the time.

"It is a body that makes its decisions at an annual meeting that requires a two-thirds majority, with the exception of special Congress.

"So when you can change things once a year, and you need more than 60% in the room to agree to something, it makes change difficult. And it is not necessarily a bad thing."

The full interview with Donnchadh is above, and well worth a watch if you are interested in how the change within the organisation might benefit club players that are "tired of putting their lives on hold."
