Irish Olympian Nhat Nguyen has told OTB Sports all about Stephen Cluxton and his credentials as a badminton player.
One of Ireland's athletes in Tokyo for the Olympic Games, badminton star Nguyen has a very interesting history with the Dublin GAA star.
"I call him sir," Nguyen clarified when asked about his relationship with Mr. Cluxton, "he was my maths teacher in 3rd year and my physics teacher in 5th and 6th year."
Unsurprisingly, Cluxton was pretty dedicated to certain standards in the classroom.
"He was very strict with taking notes and everything," Nguyen recalled. "He had very good ideas and a philosophy in class.
"So, yeah, looking back he was a very good teacher."
When asked to assess how proficient Stephen Cluxton was with a racquet in hand, Nhat Nguyen admitted that he was surprised by the GAA star.
"He was a lot better than I thought," he explained. "I have to give that to Sir. He's a lefty too so a very tricky player [to play against.]"
Nhat Nguyen joined OTB Sports on Saturday's edition of The Olympics Show - you can catch up with the episode and Nhat's interview in full here.
