Paul Durcan looks set to miss the Championship as he opts to stay in Qatar

Donegal's All-Star goalkeeper Paul Durcan looks set to miss out on the Championship this summer as he will stay in Qatar.

Durcan had been making the journey back to turn out for his club, Ballyboden St. Enda's, as they went on to win the All-Ireland, but it seems that he has chosen not to do the same for his county.

According to The Irish Independent, Durcan has committed to staying in Qatar, and will not be returning home "for the foreseeable future".

At 32-years-old, they note that perhaps Durcan may be considering calling time on his inter-county career as a result of his decision to leave the set-up this year.

Speaking after Donegal's loss to Dublin in the Allianz league in April, Rory Gallagher was clear that they were planning for life without Durcan, but had left the door open for his return.

"Paul is out in Qatar, as everybody knows, and he was flying in and out. It's not a runner to fly in and out for inter-county football, so while it worked out very well fort Ballyboden, he's just weighing up to see is it possible for him to come back."
