Liam Kearns sees the positives after defeat to Kerry in the Munster final

Liam Kearns commended his side's spirit today, despite their heavy defeat to Kerry in the Munster final today.

Kerry ran out 10 point winners at Fitzgerald Stadium this afternoon, but the Tipperary boss was happy with how his team have performed throughout the competition and even in the final.

"I was very happy and proud of them, they never gave in the towel," he told Newstalk Sport's Oisin Langan after the game.

"We opened up Kerry a lot in their own backyard and we should probably have taken more of our chances but they had a bit of class up front and it was difficult to keep them back in the second half."

Despite a positive performance, Kearns says it was frustrating at times to concede goals as a result of their mistakes.

"We're disappointed with [the mistakes]. We turned over the ball times and you have to give them credit too. They pressed our kick-outs. Even though they were getting men behind the ball, they pressed the kick-outs as well. Disappointing at both ends of the field. We conceded scores we thought we shouldn't have and we didn't get all the chances we should have at the other end. They had a little bit too much for us all day, that's the bottom line.

"We've made good progress and it's well documented how many players we don't have and how many we have lost. I'm happy the squad we have have put in a massive effort  and that they've left it all out on the field. I'd be very proud about what they did today."
