Joe Kernan announces Ireland's International Rules squad

Joe Kernan has announced his 23 man squad for Ireland's International Rules test with Australia next week.

The squad is made up of players from 12 counties. All Ireland champions Dublin providing five players including Footballer of the Year Jack McCaffrey.

Dublin's Bernard Brogan is to captain the side with Mayo's Lee Keegan acting as vice captain.

Ireland are looking to regain the Cormac McAnallen Cup after losing 56-46 to Australia in Perth last year.

Kernan was delighted with the squad assembled, despite the ongoing Club Championships. Speaking to gaa.ie he added; “Unfortunately injuries and club commitments have ruled some players out, but I am happy that we have still managed to assemble a very strong squad and it was a difficult job to reduce numbers down to the squad and the standby list."

The game takes place in Croke Park on Saturday, November 21st. Throw in is at 7pm.
