Also, up for the same award are fellow Boys in Blue Ciarán Kilkenny and Jack McCaffrey. Fenton has never lost a championship match for Dublin and has been a mainstay in the team during that time however, he isn’t expecting to win the award.

“I’m very honored for my club and family but I can’t imagine I’ll be collecting the award on the night anyway.”

“It’s incredible to be honest with you (being nominated), I remember playing against both of these players at under 8’s. You might not believe me, but I remember meeting Jack under 8. I remember hearing about Ciarán at under 8’s and then playing against him also.”

“Myself and Ciarán were nominated in 2016, Jack won it in 2015 so to be nominated even is just an incredible honor for me so I couldn’t begrudge either of them two.”

Brian was speaking at the launch of the new AIG Dublin jersey at AIG HQ. The GPA All Star Awards take place this Friday evening.

Also, on this morning’s show we had former Shamrock Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday man Paul Corry reviewing how the season went for each of the Dublin clubs. Niamh Coyne fresh from her silver medal win at the Youth Olympics earlier this month in Buenos Aires gives her thoughts on the experience. Ross Whitaker who directed the new movie documentary on Katie Taylor shared what you can expect.
