Covid-19 Sees Dublin Football Championship Game Postponed

The Dublin Senior Football Championship 1 has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sunday's round-robin game between St. Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh and Raheny has been postponed after a Raheny player tested positive for Covid-19.

In a brief statement on Saturday via Twitter, Dublin GAA said the game was off and the meeting of Castleknock and Kilmacud Crokes would now take place at Parnell Park.

Both sides are looking to make it out of the group stage of the championship and the game was particularly important for St Oliver Plunkett Eoghan Ruadh who need a win over Raheny to progress as well as hoping Kilmacud Crokes beat Castleknock in the group's other game.

Elsewhere in the county, Fingallians GAA suspended underage GAA activity at the club following a positive Covid-19 case.

A statement from the Swords club said that a juvenile player tested positive for the virus and that a small number of persons have been identified as close contacts.

The club went on to say that their primary concern at all times was the health and safety of its members and community.

They also said they felt taking this precautionary approach was what they believed to be the appropriate measure at this time.
