Daithi Regan: Galway would have "massive chance" of All-Ireland glory with Anthony Daly

Daithi Regan believes a Galway senior side led by Anthony Daly would have a "massive chance" of winning an All-Ireland hurling crown.

The Tribesmen lost to reigning champions Kilkenny in the Leinster final as they fell foul of a comeback.

Speaking to Off The Ball, ex-Offaly All-Ireland winner, Daithi, believes a change of style would aid Galway in their quest for the Liam McCarthy Cup.

"I have believed and maintained Galway need to change their playing style akin to what Clare have done the last number of years and what Derek McGrath has done the last two years [with Waterford]," he said, before touching on former Clare and Dublin manager Daly.

"Can Galway win an All-Ireland final? I have argued Galway will win an All-Ireland final and would have them serious contenders this year - and I really apologise to Micheal [Donoghue] for saying this - but I maintain very strongly, if Anthony Daly was over Galway, I firmly believe they would have a massive chance because he has what very few people have in the game of hurling from a management point of view. He has an aura about him. But he's tactically incredibly strategically at it when it comes to setting a team up - something which I actually believe that Galway aren't. I think it's a huge problem within their game."
