Finishing still a problem as Ireland remain unbeaten | Ruth Fahy

Unbeaten from the opening four games of qualification, Ruth Fahy still has concerns about Ireland's lack of goals despite the side producing ample chances.

Although seven goals from four games is not a terrible return, Fahy believes it is one area of the team that needs to improve as they go through qualification under Vera Pauw.

Fahy was speaking on Friday's OTB AM after Ireland's 1-0 victory over Greece in Tallaght Stadium and assured that the problem could be overcome.

"I think it's fixable. I don't think it's time to get harsh in that aspect," the former Wexford Youths and international star explained.

Ruesha Littlejohn had two notable chances to score while Heather Payne also could have got her name on the scoresheet with a header in the first half.

"It's just about being clinical. It's not like they are not creating any chances, they created four or five really good chances it's just about taking them.

"That sentence; they just aren't being clinical enough, we've actually repeated that after every single game of this qualifying campaign.

"Creativity could be a bit better, they could create more but it's just about taking those chances when they appear."

While Ireland didn't take all the opportunities offered up to them on Thursday night, Fahy noted that a win over Greece was no easy feat.

"People will say, 'It was only 1-0, Ireland should have scored more.' But you can't underestimate how difficult it is to play against a team like Greece.

"The time-wasting, the majority of the first half they had 11 players back in their own half. They were extremely physical.

"No, they weren't as nasty last night as they were back home in November but extremely physical, very hard to break down and then in the second half they had two chances that went just wide of Marie Hourihan's post.

"You could see after the game how delighted vera Pauw was because she knew what a big result that was."
