Brooks Koepka a major doubt for the Masters following knee surgery

Brooks Koepka faces a race to be fit for the Masters next month after undergoing surgery on his right knee.

The four-time major winner injured his knee while with his family in Florida last month and hasn't played on tour since his second place finish at the WGC Workday Championship.

Koepka confirmed to GolfWeek that he suffered a "a right knee cap dislocation and ligament damage" and needed to go under the knife in California last Tuesday.

The 30-year-old, who was second at the Masters in 2019, later posted a photo of himself with crutches on social media.

Koepka, who won the Waste Management Open earlier this year, is set to remain in California for this rehab, with the Masters getting underway on April the 8th.

He previously suffered a left knee injury at the CJ Cup in South Korea two years ago, which led to hip and neck issues while attempting to play through the pain.

It's unknown whether the eight-time PGA event winner can recover in time to tee it up at Augusta National, with the world number 12 saying, "whatever my body says, I’m going to listen".
